What is remapping?

We have a special page on our website explaining what 'remapping' is.  Click here to find out more.

Can my vehicle be remapped?

Check the vehicle search area of our website to see if your vehicle is listed.  If it isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be done.  Vehicle manufacturers often share the same ECU across similar models, so whilst we have tried to list every vehicle we know we can do, there will inevitably be a lot more that we can read the ECU information and remap the vehicle, but just haven't added to our list.  Furthermore, given the constant research and development that is being undertaken, it means the 'vehicle list' is continually being updated.

Is the remap detectable?

There are several ways to upload modified software to a vehicles ECU, but following extensive investment in the latest tuning hardware we are able to reprogram 95% of the vehicles we cover via the vehicles OBD (on board diagnostics) port.  Subsequently, this leaves no physical evidence of our work, hence leaving it completely undetectable.  All codes and diagnostics that a dealer may read will remain exactly the same.  We say it with confidence because of the rigorous testing regime all files go through, and we even give a lifetime software warranty to you.  In some cases, however, it may be that we have to remove the ECU and reprogramme it directly.  If this is the case for your vehicle, we will inform you beforehand.

Will it affect my warranty?

No.  A remap, or any aftermarket work, cannot and will not automatically invalidate your warranty.  This is following the introduction of Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation (EU) 461/2010.  If the remap was to be the definite and direct cause of any component failure, the repair will be covered by the warranty that is provided as standard with any Morph Remap.  Additionally, the way we reprogramme a vehicle is completely undetectable.  As mentioned previously, all codes and diagnostics that a dealer may read will remain exactly the same.

Will it affect the life of my engine?

It is definitely possible to over-tune an engine, causing stress on the engine and the associated components.  That is why it is essential that you choose a reputable company like Morph Remaps to remap your vehicle.  We take great care to ensure that all modifications on your vehicle are kept within the necessary parameters and will have no detrimental effect on its reliability.  In a lot of cases, the smoother delivery of power can actually help extend the life of components such as the clutch and gearbox.  The longevity of the engine is predominantly affected by driving style and vehicle maintenance, which is the case whether the vehicle has been remapped or not.

Should I tell my insurance company?

Whilst the upgrade is undetectable, the responsible answer has to be "yes", your insurance company should be informed.  However, many insurance companies will not increase their premiums for upgrades of this nature, particularly if you're remapping the vehicle for increased economy.

Can the remap be reversed?

Yes.  We keep the original ECU settings of your vehicle on our computers, so if for any reason you would like your vehicle to be returned to its original state, we can reverse the whole process and we offer this service free of charge (there may be a small cost if the ECU needs removing).  But we would be surprised that you would want to change it back to its original state after you have felt the improvements.  Furthermore, the enhanced performance may actually help the sale of your vehicle in future.  Should you lose your modified software due to dealer actions or parts failure, we will be happy to re-install the map onto your car free of charge.

Will my fuel consumption increase with a performance remap?

No, in fact it is likely to do the exact opposite.  If you drive the vehicle the same way as you did before, fuel consumption will improve.  Of course, if you drive the vehicle to the limits of its performance, it will use fuel at a quicker rate, but this is just the same as if your vehicle hadn't been modified in any way.
